WSQ Professional Diploma in New Skills in Early Childhood Education - Teaching is specially designed to train preschool teachers so that they can learn how to effectively teach children and plan work.

COURSE PURPOSE

After completing the course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the overview of Singapore’s preschool education system and the national education system and the educational goals at different stages;
  2. Analyze the role of education in promoting and supporting children’s early learning;
  3. Understand that education can help children with a variety of special needs become more successful in their studies;
  4. Recognize the importance of parent and community resources in early childhood care and education;
  5. Recognize the importance of safety, health, hygiene and nutritional factors in early childhood care and education

Entry Requirements

Local academic qualifications

  • At least 5 passes in Cambridge 'O' level subjects* (including Chinese language scores or other Chinese language scores recognized by ECDA )

Foreign education

  • At least 10 years of formal education (including Chinese language scores or other Chinese language scores recognized by ECDA )

Modules

This course consists of 7 units and a total of 1200 hours. Among them, 900 hours are taught in schools and 300 hours are spent in internships in child care centers. The part-time course takes 30 months, and the full-time course can be completed in 18 months.
