Description

WSQ Professional Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education-Teaching (WSQ PDECCE-T) is designed to equip preschool teachers with the relevant skills and knowledge for effective teaching and curriculum planning.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Provide an overview of the preschool and national education systems in Singapore and their desired outcomes
  • Analyse their roles in the facilitation and scaffolding of children’s learning in the early years
  • Understand educational considerations that help various exceptional needs children to be more successful in their learning.
  • Recognise the importance of including Parents and the Community in the care and education of young children
  • Recognise the importance of safety, health, hygiene and nutrition aspects in the care and education of young children

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements:

5 GCE ‘O’ level credits

Language Requirements:

Formal education in English

  • A grade C6 in GCE ‘O’ level English Language or any acceptable alternatives (For English programme)

Formal education is NOT in English

  • A grade B4 in GCE ‘O’ level EL1 or any acceptable alternatives

Modules

The course comprises of 7 modules conducted over 30 months of a part-time study or 18 months of full-time study. Students are required to complete 900 classroom hours and 300 practicum hours.

Delivery Mode and Assessment

The course is delivered through a variety of engaging, interactive and hands-on modes, which include face-to-face sessions, small group discussions, projects and role-play. Assessments will be based on students’ performance in assignments – in the form of field research, case studies, journal writing, reflection, classroom discussions, in-class test, group work/presentation and practicum.
