Description
Course Overview
The WSQ Advanced Certificate in Early Years course is designed to prepare early years educator in the care, guidance and education of infants and toddlers (2 months – 36 months old).
The course aims to enable students to:
- Gain understanding of the guiding principles, outcomes and suboutcomes of the Early Years Development Framework
- Develop understanding of the needs and development phases of infants and toddlers (2 to 36 months old)
- Acquire knowledge and skills in setting up appropriate learning environments, and planning programme for infants and toddlers in center-based settings
- Attain knowledge of the importance of health, safety, first-aid and nutrition
- Develop understanding of the important roles and responsibilities in the care and development of infants and toddlers
- Acquire skills to engage in reflective practices
Entry Requirements
- Completed Secondary Four education or 10 years of formal education
- Attained an average SOA 5 in the WPL series, including an SOA 5 for WPL (Writing) OR any of the English Language acceptable alternatives by ECDA (Provide Attachment)
Alternate Entry
- No Language requirement
- Relief staff program (RSP)/ Fundamental Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (FCECCE)/ WSQ Higher Certificate in Infant Care (WSQ HCIC)/ Certificate in Infant Toddler Care and Development (CITC)/ Certified EY1+ OR
- Certified Early Year 1 (EY1) with minimum 1 year of relevant working experience with recommendation from centre, pass interview and written test.
- Students enrolling into the WSQ ACEY programme under the “Alternate Entry” route MUST COMPLETE AND PASS 2 pre-requisite modules before proceeding on to complete the remainder of the programme.
