Description

Ideal for: Aspiring entrepreneurs with a mindset to become successful in pursuing their entrepreneurial dream. This innovative course is part of the start-up lab initiative that will enable you to gain cross-disciplinary entrepreneurial skills beyond the food & beverage industry.

Upon completion, the graduate is awarded with a Specialist Diploma in Food Entrepreneurship (e-learning) by At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy.

Specialist Diploma in Food Entrepreneurship is an online programme, which is a part of the start-up lab initiative which aims to nurture students with entrepreneurial mindset to become successful in pursuing their entrepreneurial dream. It is expected to impart cross-disciplinary entrepreneurial skills beyond food & beverage industry with one of the six key domains of market segments namely, well-being, sustainability, tourism, do good, education and journalism. This innovative course and one of the first of its kind, is expected to expand and stimulate cross-disciplinary food related entrepreneurship beyond the Food Service industry driven by design and technology. The main objective of the course is to guide the aspiring entrepreneurs in their start up journey by infusing entrepreneur mindset, business acumen, customer focus and relationship building.

Entry Requirements

Academic/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Obtained at least a minimum average grade of B in any of the WSQ certificate or diploma programmes offered by At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy; OR

Singaporean / Singapore PR Applicants:

  • Obtained at least a pass in a polytechnic diploma/ITE diploma or equivalent qualifications in the relevant field of study; OR

International Applicants:

  • Obtained at least a pass in a diploma or equivalent qualifications in the relevant field of study; AND
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year of working experience in any F&B-related establishments and/or in any of the six key disciplines of well-being, sustainability, tourism, do good, education, journalism and should be at least 19 years old.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • Obtained at least an IELTS score of 5.5 / TOEFL (internet-based total) score of 46-59 / WPL Level 5; AND
  • Completed/exempted from National Service (for Singaporean males only.

Modules

Following are the modules covered in this programme.

  • Creative Entrepreneurship: At the end of this module, learners will be able to understand and apply the steps involved in opening, managing, and operating a successful, independent business by creating a business and marketing plan.
  • Organisational Strategizing: At the end of this module, learners will be able to analyse the elements of strategic design as it applies to the stages of planning, organizing, controlling, and budgeting. 
  • Productivity Optimisation for Food and Beverage Operations: At the end of this module, learners will be able to evaluate the role of proprietorship and the characteristics needed for strong leadership and management in the food and beverage industry.
  • Risk Compliance and Governance: At the end of this module, learners will be able to explain the legal and regulatory requirements involved in creating a food and beverage business.
  • Workforce Diversity and Inclusion: At the end of this module, learners will be able to identify the methods used for creating an inclusive, skilled, and valued team.
  • Capstone Project: This is the culmination of the 6-month programme that allows students to use all their learned skills and knowledge to create a business plan related to the food services industry. This also forms a consolidated assessment for the six modules.
