Description

This programme is an advancement from the Post Graduate Certificate in Malaysian Legal Practice and has been developed for practitioners, by practitioners. It focuses on developing technical and practical proficiency through innovative learning methods.

The learning objectives and criteria for assessment of learning outcomes are directed to professional, effective, and practical presentation of work, oral and written communication skills, demonstration of relevant content knowledge, demonstration of relevant practical knowledge, higher-order thinking, with advanced and integrated application of professional knowledge and skills.

With this Course You Will:

  • Advance your knowledge towards specialised and integrated understandings about the subject in its respective fields.
  • Deepen and/or broaden your existing professional knowledge and skills for application in legal practice.
  • Develop expert, specialised cognitive and technical skills to analyse critically, reflect on, and synthesise information and concepts.
  • Solve complex legal problems and support decision-making, and interpret and transmit knowledge, skills and ideas to specialist and non-specialist audiences.

Entry Requirements

  • A recognised Bachelor of Laws qualification; or
  • Other private or foreign Bachelor of Laws qualifications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis; or
  • A recognised Post Graduate qualification
  • To be at least 20 years of age, and above

Lawyer’s Skills (Malaysia)

It provides you with some practical tools for handling the pressures of legal practice consistently, while balancing your ethical and professional responsibilities. You will develop the practical skills needed in order to best serve a client, employers, and the legal system by maximising your effectiveness as a lawyer.

Civil Litigation Practice (Malaysia) E-Learning

  • This subject aims to advance the foundation of your knowledge towards a specialised and integrated understanding of civil litigation practice.

Criminal Law Practice (Malaysia) (E-Learning)

  • This practice-based subject advances your foundational knowledge towards a specialised and integrated understanding on criminal law practice.

Advocacy (Malaysia)

  • This subject aims to equip you with the ability to be able to persuasively put forward your potential client’s position, inside or outside the courtroom. Among the topics discussed in this subject include ethical rules relating to advocacy, general principles of good advocacy, submissions advocacy for interlocutory applications and opening/closing speeches at trial, and trial advocacy.

Commercial Contract Practice (Malaysia)

You will understand fundamental concepts and practices in commercial contracts practice, and have a synoptic understanding of how to develop and apply this knowledge in professional practice. Personal Injury & Torts Practice (Malaysia)

  • This practice-based subject develops your foundational knowledge towards specialised and integrated understandings about personal injury and torts practice. Malaysian personal injury and tort law is based on English common law, which has been applied and developed since Independence, in various forms and at various times, to the 13 states and the federal territories that constitute Malaysia.

Property Law Practice (Malaysia)

  • In this subject, you will understand the fundamentals of Property Law Practice, and its application in professional practice. Wills, Estates & Trusts Practice (Malaysia)

  • This subject provides an introduction to succession law in Malaysia. Succession concerns the legal transfer of rights and obligations upon a person’s demise. Wills are an important component of succession law as they allow a person to specify how they would like their assets to be distributed upon death. This subject will cover the legal requirements for drafting a valid will, including proper execution and assessing testamentary capacity. It will also explore what happens when a person dies without a will. It is a practical subject designed to deepen and broaden existing professional knowledge and skills for application in legal practice.
