Course Overview
The Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Nursing is designed for SNB registered nurses in Singapore to scale up in their nursing career and build up exemplary skill in managing and leading contemporary healthcare practice, research and education in global healthcare settings. Its inaugural intake for this prestigious master’s programme begins in September 2023.
The programme provides a flexible and adaptive framework where nurses acquire and practise generic transferable knowledge and skills with specialised competencies that are specific to their areas of practice.
The programme is to be completed over 24 months, part-time. The teaching will be delivered in a blended learning approach combining some classroom-based sessions at Ngee Ann Academy and online sessions through the King’s e-Learning and Teaching Services (KEATS) platform.
This programme is taught by staff from the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care at King’s College London.
Entry Requirements
Students must satisfy the below entry requirements:
- An undergraduate Bachelor’s (honours) degree in any subject, with a minimum upper second class (2:1) degree mark.
- Be a current registered nurse with the regulatory body in the country they are clinically practising practice e.g. Singapore Nursing Board
- Two years of post-qualification clinical experience is desired.
- Meet the English language requirements as specified on King’s College London website.

It provides a foundation in qualitative and quantitative research methods, adopting a structured approach to the evaluation of research evidence and its application to clinical practice. |
Patient Safety and Cultural Variance | 30 |
This module will explore the important issue of patient safety through the lens of multiple cultures. It will allow students to explore how patient safety is impacted by both the micro-cultures that develop in the workplace as well as macro-cultures including ethnicity, tradition, religion and gender. Students will explore how physical, psychological and spiritual health is influenced by hospital practices and cultures on the diverse populations of the world. |
Enhancing Clinical Practice Dissertation | 60 |
This module aims to further the professional development of the student through undertaking a project relevant to their field of practice and the writing of a substantial report. The module enables the application of research concepts to professional situations, requiring the development and use of a range of techniques and research methods applicable to professional activities. |

Clinical leadership skills combine understanding of general leadership principles in the context of team working, management of care delivery and use of evidence-based practice for problem solving and outcomes management. |

The use of digital technology to achieve health objectives is a rapidly developing area and one that is increasingly impacting of professional healthcare practice. The focus of this module is developing a greater understanding of the transformative potential and limits of both existing and emerging technological innovations and how to adopt, use and apply these into practice in different healthcare settings. How digital technologies are assessed for the opportunities and challenges they present to improve quality, safety and efficiency are also explored. |
Principles for managing long-term conditions | 30 |
The concepts of patient-centered care, patient education and multidisciplinary team working will be central to this module as students explore principles of managing the patient with a long-term condition. Issues associated with self-management, polypharmacy, palliative care will be explored. The development of telehealth and digital solutions to health problems will be integral to the module. |
