Course Information
Description
This is a 6-month Diploma in Psychology (DPSY) part-time programme covering a range of theoretical, analytical, conceptual and functional skills in psychology. The study of psychology will enrich students with an understanding of the behaviour, relationships and the workings of the human mind, which are relevant to many careers and professions.
OBJECTIVES
- Have a basic knowledge of psychology as a discipline;
- Understand different research methods used by psychologists;
- Use the concepts, language and major theories of the discipline to account for psychological phenomena.
Entry Requirements
For admission to the Diploma in Psychology programme:
- Minimum Age Requirement: 16 Years Old
- Language Proficiency: At least C6 at GCE O Level English
- Certificate in Child Psychology and Counselling awarded by College of Allied Educators; OR,
- At least 3 subject (including English) passes with grade C6 and above at GCE O Level subjects.
For applicants who do not meet the above entry requirements, on a case-by-case basis, they may be required to take on bridging modules FIRST, before enrolling into this course.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The DPSY programme begins by introducing students to the nature of psychology as a discipline and explaining the different research methods used by psychologists. The students will understand the different fields of psychology and apply psychological principles to individual, social and organisational issues.

ASSESSMENT METHODS & GRADUATION
The programme expects candidates to complete individual and/or group written assignments, and/or written examination, depending on the modular criteria. Students must attend 75% of the classes to qualify for the examination.
CAE requires a minimum 90% attendance each month from its international students on ICA’s Student Pass.
To achieve a pass in a module, students must achieve at least 50% combining both written assignment and final examination.
Students must successfully complete and pass all the stipulated course modules to be awarded the Diploma in Psychology.
