Course Overview

SISH Institute’s foundation programme aims to prepare students to achieve better results in the competitive higher education programmes offered by SISH Institute.

The course focuses specifically on reading, writing, listening and speaking in an academic context and aims to build learners’ level of English to an equivalent of IELTS 6.0.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:

• Understand spoken communication of a familiar variety, live or broadcast, on both familiar and unfamiliar topics normally encountered in personal, social, academic, or vocational life
• Read with a large degree of independence, adapting style and speed of reading to different texts and purposes, and using appropriate reference sources selectively, incorporating a broad active reading vocabulary
• Give oral representation of clear, systematically developed descriptions and presentations, with appropriate highlighting of significant points, and relevant supporting detail
• Produce written texts in a variety of genres commensurate with academic study
