Course Information
Description
This programme focuses on the practical and theoretical dimensions of cyber security across a range of fundamental areas, such as network security and vulnerability assessment, information security policy and governance, digital forensics, and ethical hacking.
Students will gain a solid grounding in conventional computer and network security concepts and skills. In addition, the course is designed to meet the changing landscape of secure computing, which involves not only computers, but also network enabled devices such as smartphones, tablet devices, and Internet of Things (IoT).

Entry Requirements
Local Qualifications
Entry via Year 1
- Indicative ATAR score of 70, which is the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank percentage in Year 12; OR
- GCE A-Level (Minimum 3 subjects in H2 level or 2 subjects at H2 level and 2 subjects at H1 level)
Entry via Year 2
- PSB Academy Diploma in InfoComm Technology (8 units); OR
- 3-year Diploma from Singapore’s Polytechnic or equivalent; OR
- Other diploma or equivalent qualification would be assessed on a case by case basis*

Minimum Age Requirement
- 17
Refer to Edith Cowan University’s Admissions Policy (Admission, Enrolment and Progress): Attachment 1 – Academic Admission Bands and English Language Bands & Attachment 2 – Minimum Age Requirements and Exemptions.
Attachment 2 – Paragraph 2: For a Course with an Academic Admission Band of 2 or higher, students must be 17 years or older at the commencement of the Course and must otherwise meet the University’s minimum admission requirements and conditions.
English Language Requirements (Language Proficiency)
Applicants who do not speak English as a first language must demonstrate that they meet the University’s English proficiency requirement through one of the following methods:
- IELTS Overall Scores 6.0 with no individual Band less than 6.0; OR
- TOEFL Paper-Based (TWE) 4.5; ORTOEFL Internet-Based (TWE) 5; OR
- Pearson Test of English Academic Score of 52 with no scores less than 50 for courses with a current requirement of Academic IELTS 6.0; OR
- OET – A minimum score of B in each of four components
Students from Singapore must prove their English language proficiency as per one of the above conditions or as follows:
- Singapore GCE O Levels – Grade C6; OR
- Singapore Cambridge GCE A Level General Paper – Grade E
English language test scores must be less than 2 years old at the date of application to Edith Cowan University.
