Course Information
Description
This programme is a compelling combination of web design, digital marketing and public relations. You will learn how to design and develop strategies for web communication campaigns using a range of digital media, including social media, websites, mobile technology, games, video and online news media. Studying Web Communication will allow you to effectively convey information and ideas using networks such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and powerful search engines such as Google and Yahoo, to build well-designed and written websites and blogs to deliver strategic outcomes for organisations.
You will also develop a broad understanding of your field, and proficiency in producing written and oral arguments and creative artefacts in response to social, human and natural phenomena. This Major helps pave the way for further study in the fields of social research, the humanities and/or the creative arts.
Students have the option to enroll in either single or double majors.
The programme can be completed in 16 months instead of 28 months. Applicants with a Polytechnic Diploma may be exempted from up to 12 units and can gain entry to Year 2 of the programme. Applicants with a Murdoch University-recognised Kaplan Diploma or a private Diploma may be exempted from up to 8 units and can also gain entry to Year 2 of the programme.
Graduation & Degree Awarded
Students who successfully complete and pass the units stipulated in the programme structure will be awarded the Bachelor of Communication in Web Communication and Marketing from Murdoch University, Australia.
The Degree will be the same as that awarded to the on-campus graduates in Australia.
Entry Requirements
Applicants with a Polytechnic Diploma may be exempted from up to 12 units and can gain entry to Year 2 of the programme. Applicants with a Murdoch University-recognised Kaplan Diploma or a private Diploma may be exempted from up to 8 units and can also gain entry to Year 2 of the programme.
The Bachelor’s Degree programme accepts a wide range of qualifications with advanced standing.
These include:
Year 2 Entry
- Kaplan Diploma; OR
- Polytechnic Diploma; OR
- Other equivalent qualifications awarded by other Singapore-registered Private Education Institutions.
Year 1 Entry
Applicants for Year 1 entry will need to fulfil one of the following requirements:
- Completed GCE A-Level with a minimum of 6 points.
- An aggregate of 6 points from:

- Maximum of the best 3 A-Level subjects; OR
- A combination of A-Level and AS-Level subjects
- A-Level grades (A*=6, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1)
- AS-Level grades (A=2.5, B=2, C=1.5, D=1, E=0.5)
At least 2 A-Level subjects must be included in the calculation. AS-Level subject attempted at A-Level is not eligible to be included.
- IB Diploma with a total score of 24 or higher, or other equivalent pre-university certifications.
- Other private and/or foreign equivalent qualifications will be assessed on a caseby-case basis.
Applicants admitted to the Bachelor’s Degree programme may be required to undertake bridging units to fulfil the prerequisite knowledge.
English Requirement
Applicants are required to meet the University’s English language requirement:
- An approved Diploma qualification or higher, where the language of instruction was English, OR
- GCE O-Level English Language or Literature in English with Grade C or better; OR
- IELTS 6.0 (with no band below 6.0)*; OR
- Kaplan Diploma in Professional Business English (PBEP) with a score of 75% (Distinction) or higher*; OR

Delivery Method
Students will attend a combination of lectures, tutorials and workshops in this programme, and they have the flexibility to plan their study schedule and attend classes once or twice a week depending on their study load. Classes are conducted on weekday evenings or weekends to suit the busy schedules of students enrolled in this programme. Each unit is supported with 24 contact hours.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor of Transnational Education and the Deputy Dean of Murdoch University are based in Singapore to oversee all academic aspects and ensure a high standard of academic delivery here.
Assessment Methods
Each unit is assessed by any combination of class participation, written assignments, project or examinations. Assessment methods may vary according to individual unit requirements.
