Description
Course Overview
This course is for students who aspire to become qualified Chinese language teachers, and current Chinese language teachers who would like to upgrade themselves and obtain higher qualifications. This course also aims to enhance students’ knowledge of Chinese language and literature so that they are more competent in delivering Chinese language classes.

Prerequisite
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old or above AND fulfill the following requirements
- Academic Level: 9 years and above of formal education (middle school/secondary school and above) Pass in SCI Entry Test
- Language Proficiency: 9 years of studying in a Chinese School OR grade C and above in GCE ‘O’ Level Chinese OR Pass SCI Language Proficiency Test

Contemporary Chinese : Systematic learning of language studies knowledge, focus on contemporary language usage and practical combination with professional Chinese teaching.

Introduction to Professional Chinese Teaching : Build up students’ ability to grasp professional Chinese teaching laws and teaching techniques.
Psychology in Professional Chinese Teaching : From both teaching and learning Chinese as a foreign language’s psychological activity, psychological process and psychological laws.
Pedagogy in Professional Chinese Teaching : Grasp professional Chinese teaching methods and skills, and effectively carry out teaching.
Methodology of Teaching Vocabulary : Grasp professional Chinese teaching vocabulary objectives, methods and principles and effectively carry out teaching.
Methodology of Teaching Reading and Comprehension : Grasp professional Chinese teaching reading objectives, methods and principles and effectively carry out teaching.
Methodology of Teaching Composition Writing : Grasp professional Chinese teaching composition objectives, methods and principles and effectively carry out teaching.

Selection and Design of Teaching Materials for Professional Chinese Teaching : Understand the theory of professional Chinese teaching course material development history and able to design suitable course contents for students.
Contemporary Chinese Literature : Understand the various literary campaigns, ideas, creations of contemporary Chinese literature and deeply experience contemporary Chinese literature ideology and culture.
Development and Design of Teaching Plan : Grasp the technique of designing teaching plan, to sufficiently and completely teach the content during the lesson.
