Our Advanced Diploma in Digital Media is a practical course that focuses on advanced skills to boost the portfolio of students from our Diploma in Digital Media, as well as working professionals.

Entry Requirements

  • Diploma in Digital Media awarded by a local polytechnic or CSM Academy International or other relevant diploma holders.

English Language Requirement:

  • IELTS with a minimum overall band of 5.0. OR
  • GCE ‘A’ Level pass in English or equivalent.

Modules

Intermediate 3D

A follow up to foundation 3D, this module aims to train the media artist on character animation and basic rigging using Autodesk Maya. The key areas of focus are on character animation, basic bi-ped rigging and basic camera work. The end result is a well-directed characterised Animated short.

Digital Web Development

This module aims to give the media artist the necessary practical and technical tools and skillsets to build an interactive online site using the current industry software.

Thesis (1) Pre-production

This module is the beginning of a three-part continual module that leads to the student’s final thesis piece. It is designed to bring the students through a thorough pre-production phase in planning a multi-media project.

It will give the students skills necessary for critical thinking, problem-solving and a structured format in planning a multimedia project.

Visual Effects and Compositing

This section introduces key concepts to digital compositing and integrating the visual effects workflow. Compositing techniques such as chroma keying are taught beginning with key concepts followed by the right methods of capturing visual effects, up to the integration of cross-platform software.

Motion Graphics

This module introduces key techniques for creating motion text and graphics. It gives the students the ability to structure a project and create appropriate visuals for motion graphics with an emphasis on its final movements on screen.

Thesis (2) Production

This module is the second of a three-part continual module that leads to the student’s final thesis piece. It is designed to bring the students through a thorough production phase in executing a multi-media project. It will give the students the skills necessary for critical thinking and problem solving and a proper production-like environment.

Thesis (3) Post-production

This module is the final stage of a three-part continual module, culminating with the final thesis. It is designed to bring the students through the final phase in executing a multi-media project. It will give the students the skills necessary for fine-tuning projects and presenting their coursework.

Project Work

This module gives students opportunities to cherry-pick their preferred area in the digital media and work on it in a structured way to develop a project as a masterpiece in their portfolios for employability based on a mixed-media generalist approach which covers key areas in digital film, animation, visual effects, motion graphics and web development.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Students must complete and pass 9 modules to be awarded the Advanced Diploma in Digital Media conferred by CSM Academy International Pte Ltd.

Local students must achieve an attendance of 75% and international students must achieve an attendance of 90% in any month of the course.

Mode of Delivery

Delivery of the course will have a combination of classroom lectures, tutorials, online & practicals.

Note:

In case students fail the main examination of a particular module, they are allowed to sit for ‘One’ supplement assessment with payment of the appropriate fee*.

Students are to re-take the module, shall they fail the supplementary assessment. Modules are independent of each other.
